Provenance and Terms

The v3 catalog is generated from the Zenodo record 12723700, whose concept record is 10.5281/zenodo.4271803. Zenodo is authoritative for the released HDF5 payloads, checksums, and release scope. The upstream MagNav.jl repository provides the reference software and metadata context; this project pins its readme reference to commit b79a9ceed600.

The checked-in catalog contains URLs, checksums, sizes, flight dates, field descriptions, field-specific notes, sensor positions, and segment metadata. It does not contain the HDF5 payloads. The updater fetches the Zenodo API record and the two small readme archives; it never needs to download training files. The generated field and flight metadata retains links to the upstream readmes instead of copying them into this repository.

The Zenodo v3 readme snapshot is the primary semantic reference for this catalog. The pinned upstream readmes provide a stable, human-readable reference and are used by the maintenance fallback; newer upstream changes do not silently rewrite this catalog. The research data has a separate Data Sharing Agreement. That agreement governs use of the data and is not replaced by this project's MIT code license. In particular, review its restrictions before publishing data-derived artifacts or redistributing downloaded files.

This repository does not claim ownership of the source data. The checked-in catalog is a derived artifact, while field groups and reader behavior are this package's interface layer. Citation and attribution should point to the Zenodo record and the original project.
